About

Timing is everything.

Welcome! I’m so glad you decided to show up.

And you rolled up – to just the right place – at just the right time.

Please pull up a chair and let me tell you a story.

A lobster tale…

Last week, I was walking down the street and stopped at this roadside stand. The sign advertised, “Lobster tails $2.” So, I paid my $2, and the guy said, “Once upon a time, there was this lobster…”.

You may be wondering what this story has to do with seeking help for your pain points. Fair enough. Sometimes, what you’re seeking and what you’re getting in return doesn’t meet your expectations at all.

You’ve placed your faith in God in so many situations – and you’ve seen Him prove trustworthy. Except for this one issue that’s brought you here.

The “lobster” stories that you hear at church or small group Bible study don’t seem to address the disappointment and despair you feel at this moment. Instead, they leave you feeling confused – even misled – at times.

Where can I find what I’m really looking for?

You’ve finally landed. That place is right here – a “graceful” space – where you can unpack your pain, disappointments, fears, frustrations, questions, and doubts. Without judgment.

Liberate your soul, brother. Come to the table, sister. Coffee mug and tissue box in hand. Look up, child, at the One who brightens your darkness and lightens your load.

Good news: your faith can – and should – make a difference in your total well-being.

A little side note for you: your Bible does have answers for your struggle. Got one at home? Dust that bad boy off and come with! Discover the power that the gospel unleashes.

But hold on just a second.

Listen to the voices around you – and within you – who might disparage therapy.

Yes, you heard me right. Listen to the voices around you and within you discouraging you from considering counseling.

Now ask yourself – are they right?

What makes them an expert on the solution to your troubled soul? What alternatives do they suggest for you? If you think these talking heads and the voice in your head are right, let me ask you this:

What brought you to this site today? Step into my office. Let me show you around the place a little bit.

Standardized v. Specialized

Shopping therapy is like looking for a fitted pair of jeans off the rack in a department or discount store – where every pair is cut from the same pattern. Maybe it fits; maybe NOT. You get what you get. That’s so exhausting, so unhelpful.

Here at A Space of Grace Counseling, there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all. It’s not like going to a counseling office and hearing the same spiel from every therapist there. I don’t work like that.

What I offer is entirely custom-fitted, specifically tailored to YOU. Just like Jiminy Cricket in his one-of-a-kind, “skin”-toned, olive tuxedo!

Collaborative and communal –

Communication is vital – getting to know and recommend what’s best for the whole you. I work with your primary care physician and other mental health professionals on your team to ensure you receive the best care, tailored just for YOU.

But I go a step further. I facilitate conversation and connection with your pastor, small group, and family to provide support and encouragement during and beyond the journey.

The perfect fit…

So, what do you – just YOU – need to get off YOUR plate?

And how can we do that?

What makes the best tailor aligns closely with what makes the best counselor. Patience. Attention to detail. Understanding what works and doesn’t work for you – the individual and uncompromising integrity. He stands behind his work. If a consummate tailor sees something will spoil a garment, he will say so.

The result? Beautiful synchronicity. Perfect fit.

Something – inspired.

Connection – without compromise –

Your faith journey in Christ is particularly important to you. But so is your mental health.

You want to connect your life trials and mental health struggles to the promises of the Christian faith. Faith can sustain us during tough times.

And you CAN.

You can discover inner peace in the middle of what’s troubling you and experience joy through the struggle to another side of life transformation.

There’s no better time to take the next step on your pathway toward deep – genuine – real freedom.

Another tale – my story…

A unique style

I was once one of those skeptical persons when it came to the Bible and mental health therapy. Yet, I was tired of seeing the wisdom of God’s word being “contaminated” and dismissed by the secular humanism prevalent in most counseling models.

After three years of research, I’ve chosen to practice therapeutic counseling as a certified biblical counselor because it’s best suited for my beliefs and enables me to offer my absolute best service.

My model is very straightforward, and my goal is to get you to a place of healthy relating in these four areas of complete wellness, which I refer to as REPS: Relational, Emotional, Psychological, Spiritual. I address each area as it relates to the inner struggle you’re experiencing now.

Keeping the faith

I want to restore your faith in the power of God’s word to experience inner peace and joy through your present circumstances.

He’s able to carry you through.

No matter what this world may say or do. It doesn’t even matter what your homies, family, or fair-weather friends might say or think.

When I’m not wearing my counseling hat…

I recharge my batteries through reading the Bible, practicing yoga, listening to jazz music, and hanging out with my adult son. He’s my biggest inspiration!!
